Andrew Sookrah presents his unique interpretations of the spaces he connected with in recent visits, including, Gwaii Haanas (Western Canada), Gros Morne (Eastern Canada), Suzhou (Eastern China), Dingle, Western Ireland), The Arctic (northern Canada)
“When I paint the forests of Gwaii Haanas my wish is that I never paint merely what I saw there; yes, of course I was moved by the physical shapes in deep conversation with each other, the colours dancing in and out of step, hand in hand with light; it would be a joy to replicate that. My wish is that I will let the infections of presence I picked up in those forests run their course in me then be presented on the blank canvases waiting. Patient. Eager.”
